One of two J-42s finishing the 2002 Newport to Bermuda Race in the IMS Cruiser-Racer Division: UPBEAT (shown above at the start of the 2000 Bermuda Race)owned by NCYC Past Commodore Owen Smith. The other NCYC J-42 is ALTHEA, owned by Vice Commodore William Ewing, III. ALTHEA again raced to Bermuda in 2004.

KILLUA (shown above) is the third yacht comprising the NCYC team in the 2002 Newport to Bermuda Race. She is an Aphrodite 101 owned by Commodore James Binch and finished in the double-handed (spinnaker) class. NCYC member, Edwin Brooks, II was also be sailing on Killua. KILLUA again did the Bermuda Race in 2004 with the entire 2002 crew returning.
